About Rick
Rick has called Weymouth home his entire life. From his childhood days in North Weymouth to raising his family outside Jackson Square this town has always been at the center of his heart. Together with his wife, Cheryl, they’ve raised two children here and today they are proud grandparents to four energetic grandsons. Weymouth isn’t just where Rick lives – it’s where his story, his family, and his values were built.
As the owner of Coughlin & Co. Real Estate, Rick has built his career around helping families put down roots right here in town. Just as importantly, he’s given back to the town in every way he can – serving as a town meeting member, a Fair Housing Commissioner, a member of civic organizations, and now as your Councilor-at-Large.
Rick believes Weymouth’s future must honor its past. He has been a consistent voice for responsible growth ensuring that new development never comes at the expense of people who already call Weymouth home. That means standing up for safer roads, smarter traffic solutions, strong schools, and fully supported police, fire, and emergency services.
For Rick, public service isn’t about politics – it’s about protecting the community he loves and making sure Weymouth remains a place where families can thrive for generations to come.

Weymouth is changing – and together we’re shaping what comes next. Since 2000 our population has grown by thousands, bringing both opportunities and challenges. The town many of us remember has evolved, but it remains the place we proudly call home.
I’m proud of the progress we’ve made. Our roads are being upgraded like never before. Our parks and playgrounds are alive with families, and our new library has become a hub of learning and pride for the entire South Shore.
Weymouth has become one of the most desirable towns in the region with strong schools, three MBTA commuter rail stations, four major highways, and a bus network that keeps us all connected Our village centers are thriving again from the revitalization of Weymouth Landing and Columbian Square, to the new energy in Jackson Square, to the steady progress at Union Point.
Through it all, I’ve stood as an advocate for our neighborhoods, working to ensure that growth is smart, balanced, and responsible. That commitment has allowed us to keep Weymouth strong while maintaining the lowest residential tax rate on the South Shore.
Our story is far from finished. With care, vision and community spirit, we can keep Weymouth moving forward – responsibly, thoughtfully, and together.
